Senior Technical Accounting Manager

Salary: £90,000 - £115,000 plus bonus and benefits.
Location: Remote, with occasional travel to London (approximately once every two weeks).

The Client

Our client is a prominent and rapidly expanding private equity-backed insurance distribution platform. It offers an extensive portfolio of insurance products and services across various markets, catering to both multinational corporations and individual clients.

Skills and Knowledge Required

• Qualifications:
  • Degree (or equivalent).
  • ACA qualification with considerable post-qualification experience, including Big 4 and industry exposure.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Expertise in IFRS, FRS 102, and FRS 101.
  • Strong grasp of technical accounting and accounting policy.
• Software Skills:
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Communication:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Role Responsibilities

The position is within the Finance Controllership team and will report directly to the Technical Accounting Director. The primary responsibility is to address complex, significant, and unique accounting issues (pertaining to IFRS, FRS 102, and FRS 101) that affect the entire group, as well as specific challenges related to individual segments or divisions.

Key responsibilities include managing intricate accounting matters that impact the organisation as a whole, which encompasses:

• Revenue recognition
• Share-based payments
• Hedge accounting and financial instruments
• Lease accounting
• Accounting for acquisitions and disposals
• Goodwill impairment evaluations
• Reviewing financial statements
• Updating and maintaining the group accounting policy manual
• Resolving various complex accounting issues

This role requires a proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills, capable of making timely decisions and ensuring proper documentation in accounting memoranda or briefing notes. Regular interaction with senior management, auditors, and legal advisors is essential, necessitating a strong focus on delivery and the ability to tackle practical business challenges.
