About the Role
Reporting to the Group Head of Risk and Compliance, this high-level position is pivotal to our client’s governance framework. Based in Jersey, the role involves overseeing governance operations across multiple European jurisdictions. Travel will be required to ensure the alignment of jurisdictional operations with strategic goals. You will be responsible for assessing and then establishing and maintaining a high standard of regulatory governance to ensure framework alignment with jurisdictional legal and regulatory compliance; the Group’s risk and compliance framework, policies and principles; and alignment with Group and agreed jurisdictional regulatory and compliance strategy in order to provide assurance that the business as a wholeremains compliant.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide high-level oversight of governance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
Design and implement risk-based, flexible testing and training programs tailored to specific jurisdictions.
Deliver timely, comprehensive gap analyses with strategic recommendations for improvement.
Facilitate prompt escalation and notification processes to enable swift mitigating actions when necessary.
Coordinate with staff at all levels to arrange on site or remote visits, ensuring appropriate resources are allocated for each jurisdictional review.
Conduct compliance training sessions to educate staff on regulatory expectations and best practices.
Develop and implement a proactive, risk-based monitoring program
Guide business areas in holistic risk assessment and reporting, aligning with the group’s framework
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, providing staff training and support
Evaluate and enhance compliance controls and procedures
Follow up on non-compliance, escalate issues, and recommend preventative strategies
Establish metrics for tracking compliance and generating management information
Prepare compliance reports for various committees and executive teams
Oversee the effectiveness of formal committees in achieving strategic objectives
Ensuring compliance with fiduciary and trust industry standards.
Collaborating with senior leadership to enhance operational excellence.
Regulatory Liaison: Manage regulatory submissions in consultation with management
Policy & Procedures: Identify gaps in Risk and Compliance framework, stay updated on regulations, and recommend training
Risk Assessment: Evaluate and provide recommendations on Combined Risk Assessments and Business Risk Assessments
AML Compliance: Assess AML/CFT risk management, including SAR reporting, screening, and sanctions management
Training: Contribute to and deliver compliance training programs
Contribute proactively to the development of the Group's risk and compliance strategy.
Provide compliance and regulatory advice to support Group businesses as needed.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking candidates with:
Proven experience in the fiduciary/trust industry and at least 8 years’ experience within financial services across different disciplines.
A strong track record in governance, compliance, and operational oversight.
A legal, accountancy or compliance qualification and
Change management, record of influencing others to change or direct management
Knowledge and development of strong risk-based monitoring programs
The ability to thrive in a dynamic, multi-jurisdictional environment.
Happy to travel to other sites in the UK and Europe as necessary to perform the role
