The Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a
Housing Access Officer to join the
Housing Advisory Service within
Market Management Services. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that Enfield’s
private rented sector (PRS) meets the needs of residents by managing housing allocations, preventing homelessness, and supporting PRS access.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the allocation of
temporary accommodation (TA) and PRS housing, ensuring compliance with statutory homelessness frameworks and working towards reducing homelessness in the borough.
Key Responsibilities: ✔️ Manage a
housing access register and coordinate PRS access to prevent and relieve homelessness.
✔️ Ensure all housing allocations comply with the
statutory homelessness framework and service priorities.
✔️ Provide accurate and relevant
housing, welfare, and homelessness advice to applicants.
✔️ Ensure all offers of housing (TA & PRS) are lawful, fair, and in line with policies.
✔️ Contribute to the
effective management of voids and relets to maximize housing availability.
✔️ Ensure all casework and
housing data is accurately recorded and managed.
✔️ Work with external partners, including
Housing Gateway and Capital Letters, to secure suitable housing.
✔️ Provide guidance and training on housing access issues to internal and external partners.
✔️ Support initiatives to improve
PRS access and TA move-on for applicants with complex needs.
✔️ Carry out all duties in compliance with
Council policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For: ✅
Qualifications & Experience:- Previous experience in housing access, homelessness prevention, or PRS management.
- Knowledge of statutory homelessness frameworks and housing law.
- Strong background in housing allocations, casework, or tenant liaison.

Skills & Competencies:- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collate, analyze, and manage housing data effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in IT systems and housing databases.
- Understanding of void and relet processes within the PRS sector.
- A problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
