The Role

The CCTV & Security Service is part of the council’s Public Safety Division and plays an integral role in developing and implementing policy in the area of critical and major incident management. The service provides the necessary assurance with regard to the Council’s readiness and preparedness to respond to significant events as a Category 1 responder outlined within the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. The service has developed a strong cross-council approach towards ensuring that there are robust arrangements in place to enable the Council to deliver effective and timely responses to a broad range of critical incidents in conjunction with partner organisations and ensuring our local communities are resilient.

The Head CCTV & Security will lead the delivery of a wide range of initiatives designed to ensure full scale compliance with the relevant legislative framework and Regional Guidance. The post holder will play a central leadership role in the continuous development, evaluation and improvement of a wide range of Council policies and initiatives

The post-holder will also lead the Responsive Security Patrol which is critical to the wider work of the Public Safety Division and work closely with the council’s emergency management team.

  • Utilise excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to use evidence and knowledge to support accurate, expert decisions and advice, and understand how this role fits in with and supports organisational objectives.
  • Work flexibly at different hours as required

Work environment

 The post holder will work from Council buildings or from home in line with Council policies in an ‘agile’ way in a flexible and paperless work environment, prioritising their own work within the empowered and enabled team culture recognising and utilising the expertise of others were appropriate.

People management responsibilities 

The post holder will report to the Director of Public Safety and will provide professional expert, technical and management support to a team of senior managers within Public Safety services.

Relationships

The post holder will have contacts and working relationships within the organisation including:

  • Cabinet members, Scrutiny Committee and other councillors
  • Relevant members of all three Directorate Management Teams
  • Heads of services, service managers and staff within the Public Safety Division and other services as necessary

The post holder will have contact and working relationships with outside organisations as required including:

  • Metropolitan Police
  • Home Office
  • Greater London Authority
  • London Councils
  • Stakeholders including voluntary sector organisations, other service providers, resident groups, partnership organisations
