Data Migration Specialist - Lease Accounting Conversion
Contract £500 - £800 per day inside or outside IR35
Remote ( very occasionally a site visit )
3 - 4 month contract - start June - October 2024

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Migration Specialist to join and lead the conversion of lease accounting data from IFRS 16 to ASC 842 for our client. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in downloading lease data, manipulating it in Excel and Alteryx for verification and validation that the data is correct, and ensuring a seamless upload by the software third party provider into the ASC 842 lease accounting module. The ideal candidate should if possible have a strong background in lease accounting but proficiency in Excel and Alteryx is essential, and experience with data migration projects. You will join half way though the project and assist the technical accounting project team in the completion of the project via data validation and complex reviews of data and using tools.

Responsibilities:

1. Lease Data Extraction:

· Extract lease accounting data from the existing system, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

· Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in gathering the necessary information for the conversion.

2. Data Mapping and Transformation:

· Utilize advanced Excel functions and formulas to map the current lease data, and organize the uploading of the data in batches.

· Collaborate with the Accounting Advisory team and the client in carrying out the data transformation strategies to align IFRS 16 data with ASC 842 standards.

3. Excel Data Manipulation:

· Utilize advanced Excel functions and formulas to manipulate and format batches of lease data effectively.

· Implement data cleansing and validation processes to ensure data accuracy during the transition.

4. Conversion Planning and Execution:

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to work to the conversion plan, including timelines and milestones.

· Execute the data conversion plan, ensuring adherence to ASC 842 standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.

5. Quality Assurance:

· Conduct thorough quality checks to validate the accuracy and completeness of converted lease data.

· Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues identified during the conversion process.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

· Maintain detailed documentation of the conversion process, including data mapping, transformation steps, and quality assurance measures.

· Generate reports to provide insights into the progress and outcomes of the conversion.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

· Proven experience in data migration projects.

· Strong proficiency in Excel and Alteryx, including advanced functions and data manipulation is essential.

· Extensive experience of building custom databases and data analysis in Excel /VBA via Alteryx using data is essential

· Knowledge of lease accounting systems would be a distinct advantage

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
