Salary: £50,000 - £75,000 DOE
Location: Bournemouth (initially office-based, with hybrid options available later

THE COMPANY

An ambitious and growing group of companies who are involved in retail and hospitality franchises, as well as property investment, have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Financial Controller.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA).
  • Experience in multisite retail, hospitality, and property sectors
  • Highly skilled in Xero and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and awareness.

THE ROLE

This is a sole-charge role, responsible for managing all aspects of financial accounting and overseeing an operational account centre overseas.

  • Provide accurate, timely management accounts with insightful analysis.
  • Ensure the accounting function complies with statutory requirements and operates effectively.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Accounts team, including outsourced support.
  • Collaborate with management to produce clear, relevant, and timely financial reports.
  • Produce and review management accounts; analyse margins, stock, profitability, and forecasts.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date Balance Sheet.
  • Oversee bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise sales and purchase ledger processes, ensuring proper authorisation and accuracy.
  • Support branches in improving profitability and managing working capital.
  • Manage quarterly VAT returns, supplier payments, and payroll processing for Stores and Head Office.
  • Monitor and forecast cash flow on a rolling 3-month weekly basis.
  • Prepare KPIs and ad hoc financial reports as requested.
  • Liaise with external accountants for year-end accounts preparation and ensure timely statutory tax payments.
  • Visit branches to train staff on financial processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Implement and document process improvements at Head Office and branches.
  • Oversee Finance Team roles, responsibilities, and coverage, managing attendance and leave.
  • Assist managers with accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and refine reporting templates and KPIs.
  • Integrate new acquisitions into finance systems and processes.
