In this existing role, the incoming hire will ensure that all client money & assets held by Winterflood are accurately accounted for and safeguarded, ensuring the firms adherence to controls and the FCA CASS regulations. Furthermore, the successful candidate will construct reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies, documenting findings, and working closely with Operations to implement corrective actions.

Reporting directly into the CASS Reconciliations Manager the CASS Reconciliations Associate will be pivotal in ensuring that all identified shortfalls are correctly funded, and controls are completed accurately.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Construct CASS reconciliations in accordance with internal policies including, but not limited to client money and client asset reconciliations.
  • Undertaking discrepancy management, ensuring exceptions are investigated, escalated or resolved in accordance with internal policies.
  • Ensure that asset shortfalls are identified and correctly funded.
  • Monitor the allocation of client money to ensure it is allocated promptly and within the time frame specified in CASS 7 and escalate and issues in line with the CASS Policy.
  • Completing the daily Internal Client Money Reconciliation and ensuring that all client money is protected in line with the FCA CASS 7 regulations and ensure surplus/deficit movement is processed and related journals are processed against the relevant ledgers.
  • Collate data required for the production of the CMAR submission.
  • Peer review and sign-off of reconciliations performed within the team.
  • Production of Management Information ("MI").
  • Performance of any User Acceptance Testing or other system testing that is required relating reconciliation activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in reconciliations.
  • Provide support to the CASS Reconciliations Manager in regard to the internal and external audits.
  • Action and respond to queries from external clients in a timely manner.

 

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

 

  • Experience in the construction of both Client Money and Asset Reconciliations.
  • Proven experience in financial operations, reconciliations, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of CASS regulations and how these apply to both CASS Reconciliations and Operations daily or monthly procedures.
  • Exposure to automated reconciliation tools, Autorek is desirable.
  • High standard of IT literacy with a focus on Microsoft Excel. Ability to use advanced functions and formulas is advantageous.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communicator; able to engage positively with colleagues at all levels and third parties.
